Words from the Ocean
Students
* identify how the modern meanings of several words have changed from the meanings they originally had in maritime cultures,
* recognize how the ocean’s prominence in our culture has shaped our language,
* construct hypotheses as to the original, ocean-related meanings of several everyday words.
